"Friendliest people in Patong"

I stayed here 19Aug-2Sep during the "low season". The hotel is literally right around the corner from a very large food court area with just about everything you could want. Down the main road from this hotel about 2 or 3 blocks on the left is a sort of covered bazaar with a lot of clothing. I highly recommend this place because many of the items I bought there I later saw for sale closer to the beach/Bangla at much more inflated prices (60% in some cases). It's not much to look at from the road but it is CHEAP! The Bangla Road nightlife was a bit of a walk, but not too bad. The hotel is very quiet at night and I appreciated that. The beach can be walked to in about 5 minutes. The breakfast is served until noon which I GREATLY appreciated as I love to sleep in late on my vacations maybe nurse and hangover or two! The breakfast it's self is good but 3 choices over 2 weeks got a little old. The best feature of this hotel is the excellent staff. The manager is a very nice lady named "Gaan" (spelling?). She called around to find the best deals on taxis, car rental, good massage spas, anything. Also, I was negligent and forgot to use sunscreen on my legs and had the worst sunburn. When she saw it, she stepped next door to somewhere and returned with a large aloe leaf and a knife and told me how to use it. That was a life saver. In general this hotel is good for just about any type of traveler. The rooms are not extravagant but it's obvious to me that a lot of hard work has gone into this hotel to make it have enough charm to make it something more than just a room. And again, the helpfulness of the staff put it above others. My only complaint about the rooms themselves would be that my air conditioner had a very bad odor when first turned on that would go away in about 10 minutes. I checked the filter and it seemed clean enough so not sure where this came from. The price I paid was about 900 Baht a night and I booked through hotels.com. Keep in mind this is during low season. Thank you for the great stay Ms. Gaan!

"After 8 years of travel to Phuket, this is still the best place to stay"

My friends and I booked 3 rooms at the Amanta House on 2nd road in Patong for 7 nights in September. I have stayed here many times and was curious if the economic downturn would have effected the hotel. It did not.
The rooms are large with in room safe, great daily maid service. (They wait until you leave to clean the room. No knocking on the door). Jacques the Canadian owner will check on you and will see if you need anything. FREE PHONE CALLS to North America. Yep, free. That saves a lot on the phone cards. Free internet, wireless or wired. If you ask, they will provide an ethernet cord which has some of the fastest internet in the area. I watched television being streamed from America with no trouble. In room safe, Breakfast is served till NOON and it is great!!!! Not a buffet, but made to order. The apartment rooms are huge with a bath. (a rare thing for Thailand). The Standard rooms are of deluxe quality in most hotels. The owner has a travel agency around the corner that can handle any travel plans or issues. They speak FLUENTLY, English, French, Thai and Czech. The staff is friendly and can have a car at the front door in minutes, should you desire. The location is in an area with many outdoor restaurants around the corner with two money exchange booths and a minimart. Laundry service, hair cut, massage, motorcycle rental etc. in the same plaza. International television from American, Europe, Australia, France, etc. Soft drinks and beer are priced fairly right downstairs. I keep trying to find a better deal and am always drawn back to this hotel. Save yourself the trouble and stay here. No moldy smells or old disgusting linens. Quality service, rooms and amenities. The price is great. Stay a little longer on your vacation/holiday as you will save money by staying at this hotel.

"For Couples & Honeymooners"

Great oriental design. Very suitable for couples. We went in a group of 5 people, a couple and 3 of us. I was shocked when the window was a see through one from the room into the toilet, not use to it. In the end we had to stuck a towel there to cover up. The bed is quite comfortable even though i had the extra bed. The toilet is very pretty with a big shower head and beautiful color combination, which also happen to make the room looks dark at night, too dark for finding things.

The hotel also offer transport service from airport to hotel for THB 900 for max 6 people for one van (which seems to be able to take 10 person). very comfy van and it takes bout 45 min from airport. But on our return journey we found a van driver who took us for a 6 hr day trip the day before, and who offer to take us to the airport at THB 700 and the counter staff was bit not happy bout us not taking their transport instead.

The counter staff does not speak good english, only one lady who could speak it well but she was not there most of the time. We had to struggle to express our needs to them but at least we managed to get some travel advice and rates.

the beach was indeed 5-10 minutes walk from the hotel. Pretty view and lots of activities over there. Maybe we went during the off peak season, there was not many occupants. There is no water heater to cook own water, or telephone. But the place provides bottles of mineral water free of charge everyday in the fridge. The place itself does not serve food at night also so we end up buying food back on our own. Breakfast is nice but portion might not be enough for those who are used to buffet breakfast.

All in all it is a very pretty place to stay at the end of the day for your basic needs, and the staff still smile to us at the end of the day :)

“Great Accommodation, Location & Price”

This hostel was great to stay at, particularly for its price bracket. It is within easy walking distance to Patong Beach and shopping areas, plus plenty of great eating options nearby. The staff were also very friendly and really helpful.

I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a comfortable, inexpensive to stay.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“A Small Hotel Full of Charm”

Hotel close to the beach (maximum walk of 10 minutes) and near all the conveniences necessary to have a pleasant stay (restaurants, stores, hiring scooters, etc.), but sufficiently isolated to avoid the night nuisances that the nights of Phuket can cause.

Charming & smiling staff, always ready to help. The small PLUS of this hotel is really his "Chinese" theme! It truly differentiates it from others, making it a little more personal.

“Classy Accommodation In Not So Classy Patpong Beach”

The Amanta House is a beautiful, stylish hotel.
We were delighted when we first saw our room, it was so tastefully decorated, with a huge bed and very spacious. The bathroom was big with a rainforest shower and plentiful hot water. Our room at the Amanta was one of the best things about our stay in Phuket. The hotel is no more than 5 mins from the north end of Patong beach. This is a good location as the beach here is busy but not overcrowded. The water is crystal clear, warm and safe for swimming.
The Amanta is also close to a night-market where you can find cheap, authentic Thai food and fresh sea-food, which means you could holiday at the Amanta and never need to go anywhere near the seedy night-life of central Patong.
There were only two negatives about the Amanta. One is that the breakfast choice was limited to American or Continental breakfast. There was no Thai option. However, breakfast was served from 7.30am to 12pm, beat that!
The second thing is that after 5pm, there was a young man on reception who didn't speak a word of English. He was very sweet and had no problem taking keys in and handing them out, but could not help with anything else. This meant that we had to remember to ask all of our questions (taxis, trips, airport transfers etc) during the daytime which was a bit of a pain sometimes when we forgot. Overall the Amanta house is a wonderful hotel and we would happily return here.

Liked — The stylish decor
Disliked — Limited front desk service after 5pm
Date of Stay: January 2009
Visit was for: Romantic getaway
Would I recommend this hotel to my best friend? absolutely!
I recommend this hotel for: Young singles, An amazing honeymoon, A romantic getaway, Girlfriend getaway, Older travelers, Families with young children, Families with teenagers, Tourists
I do not recommend this hotel for: Great pool scene
I selected this hotel as a top choice for: Beach / Sun

“Perfect Peace”

As the previous reviews have mentioned this hotel is in a perfect location and quiet. We had a room close to the stairs on the first floor and unfortunately some of the guests are not as thoughtful when coming in or when leaving early in the morning.

The ambience of the room is delightful and the fact it is a small hotel gives an intimacy to the place. I would defiantly go back again. Liked — decor

“Loved Our Time At The Amanta House”

The Amanta House is the perfect hotel for a vacation to Patong Beach. The Amanta House is on a quiet street with just a ten minute walk to the heart of Patong Beach. Every morning our family slept until ten o'clock due to lack of noise and the comfy beds. Once we all enjoyed hot showers and soft bath towels we were treated to great breakfasts served with fabulous Thai hospitality.

Just down the street is a tour office which offers many tours and activities. We went on two of the tours and were very satisfied. There are many places to eat, shop and cash machines within a five minute walk. If this is not enough, there is a tuk-tuk every minute passing by or the hotel is always willing to book taxi.

“Amanta House Patong - A Nice Place To Stay!”

I stayed at the Amanta House Hotel from 10/27 - 11/08. Upon arriving at the airport at 1:30 am I was not met by my pre arranged Hotel Transport and had to find my way to the hotel on my own. I made it to the hotel and the clerk at the front desk got me checked in and to my room quickly. The hotel is decorated in a Chinese theme throughout. Rooms are good sized and have all you might need. In the morning I spoke to the lady at the front desk and she was very sorry about the driver and explained they thought I was coming in the afternoon. The restaurant next door is open for included breakfast until 1 pm so no problem if you sleep in. Good food and friendly staff. The hotel has free internet so you can keep in touch with home and they let me borrow a plug adapter for my laptop. The room has a good sized safe and a mini bar/fridge which comes empty so you can stock it yourself or they will fill it for you. Each day I stopped to chat with the ladies working there and they always had time to chat or offer advice. The hotel is small with only a dozen rooms or so. They do not have a lift so stairs are involved for most rooms. They are located a short walk to the beach or to many restaurants and stores. Bang-La Rd is about 10 min away so you really won’t need a taxi unless you want one. The hotel made my return taxi arrangements to the airport without any trouble. The only draw back is the lack of a pool but the ocean is 5 minutes away so really isn't necessary. Enjoyed my stay at Amanta House and I would recommend the hotel to someone looking for a more intimate guesthouse feeling. This is not a big chain hotel and I am glad for that. If you want a convenient safe quiet place to stay that offers a friendly staff nice rooms and good location give them a try!

Liked — Awesome staffs that really get to know you.

“Great Little Hotel”

Stayed here for four nights in August 07 (two nights at first and we came back for two more nights a few days later, after visiting Phi Phi Island).

Hotel: a Chinese-traders theme boutique hotel with only 10 rooms, located in the heart of Patong (side street from a main road) at five to 10 minutes walk from Patong Beach. The theme of the hotel is used throughout and in detail, giving it a special intimate atmosphere. Clearly a lot of work and love has gone into creating this place. The hotel has free in-room broadband Internet access (wired in every room, and in addition wireless in some rooms), plus free usage of an Internet PC downstairs for those without laptops. Breakfast is available until midday in the restaurant next door (owned by the hotel), an excellent feature for those wanting to sleep in. The hotel is owned and managed by a Canadian/Thai couple. It opened less than a year and a half ago.

Location: the hotel is located on a side street, a minute or two walk from a main road in downtown Patong Beach. A number of excellent and economical seafood restaurants operate on the sidewalk of the nearby main road, and banks, convenience stores, beauty parlors which also offer good massages and other shops are located nearby. The whole of the Patong downtown can easily be walked from the hotel. The beach can also be easily walked to.

Room: the rooms we had (204 initially, and 203 the second time) were of a good size, one theme in blue and the other theme in pink and green. As elsewhere in the hotel the overall theme was Chinese with a lot of attention to detail. The web site of the hotel offers an interesting explanation about the philosophy of the differently colored rooms (each room in this hotel has a different color theme). Items in the room included a working desk and chair with Ethernet port for Internet access (wireless also available as mentioned earlier), TV with up to 50 satellite channels (although some were a bit snowy), in-room electronic safe, wardrobe, a good split-cycle air conditioner with remote and room temperature indicator on the wall unit, and an excellent, firm and comfortable king-size bed. The room had a decent sized balcony overlooking the street, with chairs and a table. There is a fridge in the room which can be filled with drinks available for purchase from the hotel (at reasonable rates; 40 baht for a beer for example) or from elsewhere. The bathroom also was great with a very big showerhead, and a Chinese designer wash bowl, in line with the overall theme.

Cleanliness: very good.

Breakfast: choice of breakfast was available at the restaurant next door, which is owned by the hotel. We chose American breakfast each morning (included in the room rate) which was good.

Staff: friendly and helpful, although some had limited English. However the Canadian owner, who speaks English as well as French, is often around, usually in the mornings.

Booking: had booked at wotif on the day of arrival, only about five hours beforehand, and the booking went through fine - we were expected when we arrived. We paid 950 baht per night, a good low-season rate.

Internet: whilst most large luxury hotels still charge for Internet access, this place has free broadband Internet access available in each room. Both wired and wireless Internet is available in the hotel plus a PC downstairs near the lobby which guests can use free of charge. An excellent initiative.

A few comments: the rooms are on levels one, two and three and there is no lift, so people with mobility problems who cannot climb stairs should not stay here. Hot water is solar powered, and the second two days that we stayed at the hotel there was no sun, and subsequently the water was relatively cold (this was in room 203). However as the days were hot anyway this was only a minor inconvenience. The Aman Grill restaurant located next door, where the breakfast is served, has neither air conditioning nor fans, which means that on hot days it can be quite warm there if you get a late breakfast. Management could perhaps look at installing a few fans in there.

Restaurants: next door to the hotel is the Aman Grill restaurant, a small place which is owned by the hotel. Despite it having a full dinner menu, when we stayed it was only upon till noon (for breakfast only). Other than that, within a few minutes walk there are various other restaurants on the main road which serve good quality seafood dinners as well as a large variety of other dishes (beef, chicken, noodles, etc.). Additionally, the entire downtown area of Patong, with its hundreds of bars, restaurants, shops, massage parlors etc. can be easily walked from the hotel.

Shopping: as the hotel is close to the centre of Patong, shops line virtually all streets in the area.

Transport: shuttle van from the airport to the door of the hotel costs 150 baht per person, taxi 550 baht.

Climate: we were there in late August and the weather was above 30 degrees most days and relatively sunny with infrequent showers. The second two days we stayed there the skies were overcast. However these were the only two overcast days in a period of several weeks that we stayed in the Phuket area.

Conclusion: this character boutique hotel was creatively designed and appears to be well managed. The fact that it is clean, economical, in a central location in Patong, with good air con and has free Internet makes it an excellent option for those who do not require a beachfront hotel. Due to its Internet access it is suitable for both tourists and business people.

Liked — Overall value for money, attention to detail

“Rustic Converted Shop Houses”

We were at Phuket for a dive trip last weekend and stayed at the Amanta House, a nicely restored shop house with a traditional, rustic feel. Rooms were spacious and clean, staffs were friendly and very accommodating. We needed to leave at 730am, and the hotel staff were happy to open an hour early to prepare our breakfast.

The only cautionary note is to be aware that there are mosquitoes in the lobby. The hotel is also a ten minute walk from the main Patong beach area. However, for us this was more than made up for by the fact that there was LAN and WiFi access in the rooms.

Liked — Internet access

"A Different Experience..."

A VERY SPECIAL PLACE IN PATONG. NOT TO LOOSE THE CHANCE TO STAY.
SMALL BOUTIQUE HOTEL VERY NEAR THE BEACH AND NIGHTLIFE.
EXCELLENT DECORATION FULL OF CHINESE SYMBOLS.
THE COLORS OF THE ROOMS ARE GREAT. EVERY ROOM IS SO DIFFERENT. THE SIGN OVER MY BEAD MEANS GOOD LUCK AND IT BROUGHT TO ME THE BEST.
YOU SLEEP THERE, IN THE HEART OF PATONG AND YOU DREAM THAT YOU ARE INSIDE NORTH-WEST CHINA.
FAMILY ATMOSPHERE, STAFF VERY FRIENDLY, YOU FEEL LIKE HOME.
GREAT CHOICE FOR ROMANTIC COUPLES THAT NEED SOMETHING SPECIAL. INSTEAD OF BIG RESORTS AND POOLS.

COME BACK FOR SURE…

"What A Great Setting!"

I've never seen such beautiful setting in a small hotel! This is what Boutique-Hotel is all about...
Congratulations to the Amanta House Team.
I recommend this place to everyone visiting Phuket.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Good Standard Of Service"

The Amanta House has a good standard of services.
It is within walking distance of Patong Beach if you don't mind some exercise.
Deluxe rooms are very comfortable for this standard of hotel. The Amanta House is a good value in Phuket.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Great Place!"

Amazing room decoration and attention. Best room for money in Phuket.
Fast free broadband Internet access (free of charge) in every room + outgoing staff speaking 4 languages.
Beautiful garden at the back.

"Stylish At A Bargain!"

Exceptionally stylish and a nice quiet and convenient location. Would definitely go back.
Breakfast was big and tasty with a friendly smile.

“We Stay There Again During Peak Period.”

The Amanta house is located in a quiet stretch north of the main area Patong, but only a five minute walk to the beach. Very convenient yet away from the noise and crowd. Rooms are clean and spacious. Good design and exceptionally good value for money. No bathtubs but beds and bed linings are comfortable enough for the picky traveler who is looking for good value, good comfort and prompt service. A note: The rooms are of different colors. We stayed in 4 rooms that are yellow, green, red and blue. Found that the blue colored room is too dark.

“What A Great Place To Be!”

What a great place to be! The hotel is located in a very peaceful area and only 200 meter from the wonderful beach of Patong. The owner was there to welcome us when we arrived at midnight. Every time we need information he was there to help us. The cleaning is done everyday and the room stays clean all the time. You want towels to go to the beach, no problem; the staff will lent you one already. We can use Internet for free too! The rooms are not only clean but the decoration is really great. It's "Chinese style decoration" with brand new furniture and large bed with linen really clean, clean, and clean! We enjoy our stay and I recommend to all who want to stay in a quiet place near a nice city in that part of the world!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“We'll Be Back.”

This is an excellent guest house in Patong offering very good value for money. The Chinese style rooms are large, well furnished and very comfortable. The safe in the room was huge and I was able to fit my laptop inside. The location is excellent, just minutes from the beach, shopping centers and restaurants. About 10 minutes level walk to the Jungceylon mall.
Breakfast was good quality served in the cafe next door. The daytime receptionist was very helpful and spoke good English.
Free fast broadband by LAN connection in your room.
What more could you want?

"A Traveler From Dallas, Texas Recommends This Hotel."

My stay at Amanta House was enjoyable. The hotel is a small guest house with only 10 or so rooms. They do not have a lift so stairs are involved for most rooms. The hotel is decorated in a Chinese theme which was very interesting. The daily breakfast included in the stay was at the restaurant next door. The food was good and they are open until 1pm in case you sleep in. The thing I like the most about the hotel was the staff. They were very friendly and helpful. Each day I would practice my limited Thai and they tried to help me learn more.
The hotel is a short walk to the beach and about 10 minutes from Bang-La Road. It is in a quiet area but not far from everything you might need. They do have free internet in the rooms which was a nice bonus. The only drawback is the lack of a pool but the beach is so close it really not needed.
Amanta House is a good choice if you want a safe, quiet, friendly hotel where they get to know you unlike a big chain hotel. I would stay there again no problem!
